Teenager charged with Carjackings in Tamworth

Monday, 30th November 2020

A TEENAGER from Birmingham has been charged in connection with a series of robberies following reports of carjacking incidents in Tamworth and South Staffordshire.

Kier Carter, 19, of Coleshill, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with unknown others between November 1 and 20.

The alleged offences took place in the Tamworth area and south of the county.

He appeared before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Saturday (28 November) and was remanded in custody until 6 January.

Earlier in the month, we reported that Police were called to the Ventura Retail Park, by Marks and Spencer, shortly before 20.00 GMT on Thursday 19 November following reports a blue Audi S3 had been stolen by masked men.

The victim had been putting away his trolley after shopping when a car, described as similar to a dark coloured Volkswagen Tiguan pulled up alongside him.

He was then pushed to the ground by three masked men – who demanded his keys. The group then drove off in both cars.

We also reported how Police were called to the A453 at the junction with Slade Road at about 1715 GMT on Wednesday 11 November to reports that a woman had been robbed after being threatened by a group of Asian men brandishing knives.

The victim, a 55-year-old woman, had been shopping when the four suspects – travelling in a black Toyota people carrier – collided with her black Volkswagen GTI car.

When she pulled over, the suspects threatened her with two large machetes and made her leave her vehicle before departing with both cars in the direction of Tamworth.

The victim was not injured in the robbery but was left very shaken.

It is not clear at this time as to whether these carjackings were connected to the charges of this male.
