Santa’s coming! Santa sleigh routes for 2020 revealed

Thursday, 26th November 2020

THE sleigh has been brought out of storage, the boots are being dusted off and the elves are getting organised in time for Tamworth’s biggest and most popular Christmas fundraising tradition.

The annual Santa Sleigh Appeal sees Father Christmas take on a mammoth tour of Tamworth streets, raising funds for local good causes.

As they have done previous years, the Rotary Club of Tamworth and Tamworth Round Table will again be joining forces to bring Christmas cheer to all corners of the town and this year their tour starts on Monday 30 November.

The jam-packed and meticulously planned itinerary will see the two organisations taking Santa and his sleigh around dozens of Tamworth streets. The sleigh can also be seen at various local stores throughout December.

The tour is supported by an army of helpers who brave all weathers to accompany the sleigh each evening to collect donations from the town’s residents; many of whom line the streets in anticipation of Santa’s arrival.

This year, the donation methods are a little different due to COVID restrictions and so donations can be made online.

On the Facebook of Tamworth Round Table, they have said:

“We cannot guarantee any particular street or road, we will do the general areas listed below and will try to cover what we can. We plan to start at 6 pm weeknights and 4 pm at weekends.

“We won’t be knocking doors this year, and we won’t have collectors with us. We are still collecting for local causes if you wish to donate, you can do so [online].

“Please remember Santa and all his helpers do this for free, unpaid in their own time. Please be nice to keep on Santa’s nice list.”

Donations can be made to Tamworth Rotary Club here, Tamworth Anker Rotary Club here and to Tamworth Round Table here.

Below you can see the details of the routes.  Please note that these details are as provided by the organisations.
