WARWIKSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision, which occurred today (Tuesday 28 October) at 10.40am.
The collision involved a white transit van and a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle, which were both travelling in the direction of the M42.
The motorcycle rider, a 46-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The rider has not been formerly named at this time and Tamworth Informed ask you respect families privacy by not naming them. Our thoughts are with their family and friends.
The driver of the van, a 36-year-old man, was arrested and released on bail until Sunday 7 December.
An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a motorcycle and a lorry that had been in a collision.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the motorcyclist and sadly he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The driver of the lorry was uninjured in the crash but was checked over by medics for the effects of shock. He didn’t require further treatment.”
Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident or who saw the vehicles prior to the collision. Police would also like to speak to the driver or occupants of a small to medium sized car, which was in the area at the time of the collision.
