We Love Tamworth is nearly here!

Friday, 15th August 2014

It’s now just a week until the We Love Tamworth summer extravaganza takes over the Castle Grounds.

We Love Tamworth will run from 11am to 4pm next Saturday (August 23), promising fun for all the family. Last year’s debut event attracted around 7,000 visitors – and this year’s promises to be even bigger and better.

The Castle Grounds will be alive with fairground rides, dog show, Lenny the Land Train, Tamworth’s strongest man competition, stalls and much more.

There will also be a Children’s Zone, featuring the Midsummer Magic storyteller, fairy stilt walker, petting zoo, giant games, face painting, balloon modelling and craft activities. Entry to the Zone will be £3 per child, with adults going free.

Amington Band will be adding some musical accompaniment to the day, performing in the Bandstand between 12.30 and 3.30.

Dog lovers are also invited to bring along their pets and enter them for the fun dog show. There are categories for waggiest tail, junior handler for owners between seven and 13, cutest puppy, prettiest crossbreed bitch, handsomest crossbreed dog, scruffiest scamps, prettiest pedigree bitch, prettiest pedigree dog and golden oldies – for dogs aged seven and over.

Entry into the dog show is £1 per class. Organisers will also be accepting donations of dog food, blankets, towels and treats for the Dog Rescue Centre on the day. More details of the dog show can be obtained by calling 0121 3130174 or 07894 644572.

Tamworth Borough Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Rob Pritchard, said: “Last year’s We Love Tamworth summer event was such a huge success that we decided to repeat it again this year. We are delighted to welcome it back to our calendar of outdoor events and hope that even more people than last year will come along to support it.

“There is something for everyone, for the smallest tots to the oldest grandparent, and all ages in between. If you want to have a great day out, then come along to the Castle Grounds for We Love Tamworth.”

Tamworth Lions are again organising the community area for the event.  Any organisations, whether charity or commercial, who wish to attend should e-mail geoff.trevena@gmail.com for details, advising of organisation type, and he will forward details.
