THE popular We Love Tamworth extravaganza returns to the Castle Grounds in September and is looking for any groups, organisations, charities or businesses that are interested in booking a stall at the event – all in the name of charity.
A highlight in the town’s annual calendar of events, We Love Tamworth will be back on September 1, bringing with it a jam-packed day of activities for the whole family.
Presented by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team, the exciting event is now in its sixth year. The event brings a variety of entertainment for the day including fairground rides, games, children’s zone, a dog show, girl guiding parade and new for this year a ‘musical junk’ attraction called ‘Wheeze’.
With record-breaking numbers of visitors from near and far in previous years, why not join the event and hire a space for a stall to promote, advertise or sell your business or organisation?
The stalls arena is again being run by Tamworth Lions club, which has been supporting local charities and causes for over 40 years. Every penny received by Tamworth Lions from the stalls will be used to fund deserving causes across the Tamworth area. Charity stalls are priced at £15 and businesses £30 for a three metre by three metre space.
A variety of stalls have already been confirmed including Utility Warehouse, Staffordshire Wild Life Trust, Tamworth Samaritans, St Giles Hospice, Tamworth Wellbeing & Cancer Support Centre, Tamworth Ladies Choir, Home Start Tamworth, refreshments, Kuk Sol One of Tamworth and Paws For Behaviour.
Any charities, businesses, groups or organisations interested in booking a stall at the 2018 event can contact Mark Kyte at Tamworth Lions by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dog lovers are invited to enter their four-legged friends into the fun dog show, with a variety of classes competing regularly throughout the day. More information about the dog show is available by calling 0121 240 8130 or 07894 644572.
At the centre of the festivities there will again be a special action-packed area to keep youngsters busy all day. The dedicated Children’s Zone will feature a variety of activities including walkabout characters, bouncy castles and slides, face painting, giant games and craft activities. Entry to the Children’s Zone is £3 for children – adults get in free of charge – and children can come and go as they please throughout the day.
New for this year is ‘Wheeze’, the organic musical organ, made from ‘found’ junk materials. Wheeze is a both a beautiful sculpture and a fantastic music making machine – powered entirely by air. People are welcome to come and make their own music under the expert eye of the Engineer. Why not play a solo or have a jam with friends and strangers, producing many sounds that will emerge from its virtual lungs and vocal cords.
During the day Wheeze will go into live mode, featuring a series of short performances designed to show off this magnificent machine and guaranteed to get audiences wanting to ‘have a go’ at making their own sounds.
This year also sees the 100-year anniversary of the formation of Girlguiding Tamworth and a special parade will be taking place through the grounds to mark the event.
Cllr John Chesworth, Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: “We are delighted to be able to host We Love Tamworth again. It has become a great day out and a firm favourite among people of all ages. Each year the event grows more popular with local residents and visitors to our town.
“This year’s event has all the much-loved features from previous years, as well as some really special extras, such as the Girl Guiding parade, celebrating their 100 years anniversary in Tamworth.
“I hope that more charities and businesses will sign up for a stall and that Tamworth residents will pop along and take advantage of all the family fun.”
The fun kicks off at 11am and will continue throughout the afternoon until 4pm.
