Sunday, 17th May 2015

WARWICKSHIRE police arrested two people in the early hours of this morning after a vehicle pursuit ended in Amington.

Residents were woken in the early hours to the sound of police sirens and a helicopter as the pursuit which crossed three counties and lasted 25 minutes came to an end.

One male was arrested for dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of drugs. A second male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, possession of drugs and was also waned for questioning in relation to a Burglary in September 2014.

It is understood that a machete was recovered from the vehicle.

Enquiries are still ongoing at this time.

The National Police Air Service helicopter based at Birmingham Airport was called to join the pursuit but arrived on scene after the pursuit had come to an end.

The pursuit resulted in ‘Tactical Contact’ from a Police vehicle driven by a North Warwickshire shift sergeant.

Helicopters are often called in to observe a vehicle pursuit as this is deemed a much safer tactical option to Police, allowing the pursuing vehicles to back off.
