Police were forced to close off a street in Tamworth this afternoon following a man climbing on to the roof of a property.
Shortly before 3pm this afternoon, Police closed off a section of Woodland Road and Sorrel in Amington and a man could be seen on the roof of a row of houses close to the top of Sorrel.
Police, Fire and Rescue and West Midlands Ambulance Service, including their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were all in attendance at the location.
The male, who appeared to be in his late teens – early twenties was seen to climb down from the roof at around 430pm with the aid of a ladder.
A local resident who does not want to be named has contacted Tamworth Informed this evening saying: “The incident started with the police attending to arrest the man concerned.
“As they were shouting through the letter box, and climbing over the back fence, he was seen climbing out of a back bedroom window onto the roof.”
“To be clear, he went on the roof, AFTER the first police arrived. All the other emergency services had to be called in because he refused to come down for 2 hours.”
