UPDATED: Birmingham Flight Makes Emergency Landing

A plane that was due to land at Birmingham Airport was forced to make an emergency landing earlier this morning. Birmingham airport bhx logo

The First Choice flight was diverted to East Midlands Airport at 5.40am this morning.

Four fire engines were called to the scene but emergency services were stood down at 6am and the plane departed East Midlands for its final destination,  Birmingham at 6.40am.

The Boeing 767 was diverted to East Midlands after reporting a ‘suspected minor technical fault’.

In a statement, the airline said: “The flight, TOM831, from Barbados, landed as normal and was checked at East Midlands Airport before being cleared to proceed to Birmingham.

“The safety of passengers and crew is our number one priority and incidents such as this are very rare.”

It has been confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident.
