Two arrests after thefts from vehicles in Tamworth

POLICE in Tamworth have made two arrests after CCTV operators spotted the men acting suspiciously in Tamworth Town Centre.

The eagle-eyed CCTV operators from Tamworth Borough Council spotted the two men tampering with vehicles in the Town Centre at 02:30GMT yesterday morning, 13 March.

Police attended the location and the men were arrested – property was also recovered and has been returned to its rightful owners.

Both of the men were arrested and remain in custody at this time.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told Tamworth Informed: “At 2.30am yesterday morning (13 March) officers were alerted by CCTV operators to vehicles being tampered with in Tamworth town centre.

“Two men from Tamworth, aged 27 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of theft following the incident and remain in custody at this time.

“Property including tools were recovered, and have since been returned to their rightful owners.”
