COUNCILLORS are hoping to spread some festive cheer this year by giving out 200 Christmas hampers to vulnerable, disabled, housebound and elderly people living in Tamworth.
Tamworth Borough Council is now asking members of the public and charities across Tamworth to nominate people to receive a hamper, full of traditional Christmas favourites.
The hampers, put together by Aldi, will be hand-delivered by councillors who will be taking them out into their own communities, with deliveries starting in the first week of December.
Cllr Tina Clements, lead councillor on the committee which will be distributing the hampers, said: “While we are looking forward to Christmas and spending time with loved ones, we want to make sure we help and support those people who may not have friends and family to spend the festive period with.
“This time of year should bring people together and remind them that they are not alone. If anyone knows of someone who would like to receive a hamper, please get in touch.”
