Staff pushed to floor in early morning store robbery

AN early morning robbery at an Amington convenience store has seen a member of staff pushed to the floor by an offender steeling alcohol.

The shocking incident happened shortly after 0600 GMT this morning, Friday 12 February, at the Tesco Express Store on Tamworth Road in Amington.

Two men are believed to have been involved in the incident. with one of the males pushing the member of staff to the floor, making threats and then stealing alcohol.

Fortunately, the member of staff did not receive any injuries during the incident and the exact items taken and their value is not known.

Following the incident, the offenders reportedly fled in a black Vauxhall Zafira up Woodhouse Lane, in the direction of The Old Liberal House.

The main offender was described as a white male in his early 20s. He was dressed in a grey tracksuit including a hooded sweatshirt.

The second person was described only as a white male with red hair.

A Spokesperson for Staffordshire Police has said:

“We were called at 6.24 am this morning to a shop on Tamworth Road, Amington, following reports of a robbery.

“Officers attended after staff reported a man had pushed a member of staff to the ground, threatened them, and stolen a quantity of alcohol.

“The man was described as white, in his early 20s, dressed in a grey tracksuit including a hooded sweatshirt. He was with another man, described as a white man, with red hair. The staff member was shaken but uninjured.

“The offenders made their escape in a black Vauxhall Zafira in the direction of the Liberal Pub.”
