RECYCLING centres in Staffordshire are offering a tasty incentive for people who pay them a visit.
Anyone who takes their recyclable materials—especially cardboard and glass—direct to their recycling centre will be able to enter a special prize draw, where they could win a meal for four in an accredited Taste of Staffordshire venue.
The move is to encourage people who have particularly bulky cardboard and glass or are struggling with full bins to take it directly to their local recycling centre.
Details on how people can enter the prize draw are only available at recycling centres. To take a look at participating venues, who to be Taste of Staffordshire accredited have to source at least 40% of their ingredients from local suppliers, visit www.staffordshire.gov.uk/recyclejanuary.
County Councillor Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities said: “Our recycling centres can take a wider range of materials than those that are accepted in household recycling bins, so we want to encourage as many people as possible to think about what can be recycled. For example, our centres can take plastic storage boxes and buckets, which can’t be recycled at the kerbside.
“By offering entry into a prize draw, we’re raising people’s awareness of what can be recycled, and giving them an incentive to do so. We are also promoting some of our fabulous Staffordshire venues who locally source their produce and cut down on food miles.
“So, if you’re having a clear out, gather as many things as together as possible to make your trip worthwhile, and make more use of your local recycling centre this year.”
