Tamworth – who’s your superhero?

Tuesday, 28th June 2016

PEOPLE from across Tamworth are being given the chance to recognise someone they feel goes above and beyond, as Ankerside Shopping Centre searches for a local ‘superhero’.

Unlike the costumed variety flying, swinging and shooting their way across cinema screens this summer, superheroes could be anybody – from a local volunteer always ready to help, or a teacher who has been particularly helpful or inspiring over the last academic year, to an extra special family member who has just ‘been there’.

From Monday 4 July, shoppers can head to the centre’s Facebook and Twitter pages and nominate their superhero by posting on the wall of the Facebook page or by tweeting @shop_ankerside.

Ankerside Centre Manager, Jeff Wigley, said he wanted to celebrate the unsung heroes in the community. “There are so many people in the area that don’t get recognition for the things they do for other people,” said Jeff. “By asking the people of Tamworth to nominate their superhero we want to shine a light on those that do the important things that keep this great town, and the people of it, going.”

Nominations will close on Friday 15 July, with the chosen ‘superhero’ being selected by the Ankerside Centre Administration team. The winner will be announced on Monday 25 July and will receive a prize hamper with items including two pairs of tickets to two films of their choosing at Odeon Tamworth.
