Tamworth Stage School to Perform at Royal Albert Hall

April 24, 2017

Tamworth-based Stage It! Academy will be taking nearly 80 students to London on 29th May to perform in “The Stars In The Round” – a dance show hosted by Mardi Gras Promotions.

The students, aged between 6 and 17 have been rehearsing for the show since the start of the year, with a dance choreographed by Stage It’s dance teacher, Jemma McHale.

Jemma said: “This is a unique opportunity for our students to dance in front of a huge audience in one of the most famous performance venues in the world. It is a once in a lifetime experience, which they will remember forever.”

Unlike most performance venues, the Albert Hall has the audience all the way around the arena floor, meaning the choreography needs to be adapted to suit a true 360 degree viewpoint.

In addition, the teachers at Stage It! have had to face the challenge of coordinating 77 students, all learning different parts of the dance at different times, whilst at the same time rehearsing for their Summer Musicals, which will take place in July.

Stage It! Academy has been running since the beginning of 2013, and have produced numerous shows and musicals, all performed in Tamworth.

With just over 100 students currently, ranging in age from 4-18, they rehearse every Saturday in Glascote. Tickets for the dance performance are available from the Royal Albert Hall website. For all other information or enquiries, please email Helen and Chris at info@stageitacademy.co.uk
