Tamworth Stage School Prepares for Biggest Ever Show

June 8, 2015

AN award-winning stage school in Tamworth is preparing for their biggest show to date.

Enact Academy, based in Dosthill, is staging Seussical the Musical at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms on 5 July.

Principal Olivia Shepherd said: “Seussical is a bold and colourful show based on the work of Dr Seuss. There are classic characters like the Cat in the Hat and also the Grinch, as well as Horton the Elephant and a whole host of Whos.

“This is our first big musical at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms and the students are very excited. What makes this show particularly challenging is the sheer scale of it – we have all three age groups performing, from four right up to 18 years old – and the sets and costumes are larger than life.”

Enact Academy recently competed in the Hastilow Drama Festival where they won the Tamworth Little Theatre Award for their production of Enter Inferno.

Olivia said the award was a real honour: “The students work really hard at Enact Academy, and all the hours of rehearsals paid off. We like to include a large element of fun in  our classes, and I think that really shows when the children are on stage.

“Our first priority is building a child’s confidence, and we believe a happy actor is a confident actor”.

Seussical the Musical is on for one night only at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Sunday 5 July at 5pm.

Tickets are £12 adults and £8 concessions and can be bought through the Tamworth Tourist information Centre on 01827 709618 or by visiting www.EnactAcademy.co.uk.
