The highly anticipated ‘Operation Christmas’ appeal has launched at Ankerside, with the public invited to donate gifts, which will be distributed between two worthwhile, local causes.
For the 16th year, Ankerside is reaching out to members of the public for help with spreading additional festive cheer throughout Tamworth. The shopping centre is encouraging the community to purchase toys, books, stationery, games and toiletries, which can be dropped off at the Octagon seating area until Monday 16 December.
All offerings will be presented to Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides care for babies, children and young people, with serious illnesses and life-limiting conditions. While Community Together CIC, operator of a drop-in facility for people to take part in activities, access befriending services and receive healthy lifestyle advice, will share the gifts with the adults it assists.
Lucy Harvey, administrator at Ankerside Shopping Centre, said: “The Operation Christmas campaign offers a fantastic opportunity for us to show our gratitude to organisations in our area that go above and beyond all year round to help individuals and families who are doing their best to navigate through difficult situations.
“As we’ve witnessed over the previous 15 years of the gift appeal, Ankerside shoppers have the biggest hearts and the contribution is always phenomenal,” said Lucy. “We’d kindly like to ask for participants to join us once again this year in bringing smiles to the children and adults that receive essential care and support from the amazing teams at Acorns Children’s Hospice and Community Together CIC.”
