TAMWORTH’S MP Christopher Pincher has welcomed the news from consumer association Which? that the area has the fastest average broadband speed in the country.
Currently, Tamworth’s average speed of 30.4mps (megabits per second) is almost five times faster than the UK’s slowest connection in the Orkney Islands.
Mr Pincher stated:
“Having broadband is an essential part of daily life in this modern age and we all think that we cannot live without it. This report is very good news for the people of Tamworth and shows that the Government’s investment into broadband schemes is working.
“However I do understand the strain that inadequate broadband connection can be for some people in the area, whether that be painfully slow or sometimes not working at all. There is still much more to be done to ensure that everywhere in and around Tamworth has the best broadband in the country.”
Alex Neill, Which? Managing Director of Home Services, said:
“Far too many households across the UK are suffering from slow broadband speeds, which can stop you being able to carry out essential daily tasks. We are encouraging everyone with broadband to use our speed checker so people can see if they are getting the speeds that they’ve been promised by their provider and find out how to complain if their speed is too slow.”
