HUNDREDS of runners from over the Country took to the roads and footpaths of Tamworth over the weekend to take part in the TCRfm Tamworth 10k.
The 5th annual TCRfm Tamworth 10k was won by Stephen Long of Nottinghamshire Athletics Club in 34:33 and in an exciting finish second place, close behind in 34:39 was Simon Birch of Hinckley Running Club; Neil O’Hanlon was just behind in third place with a time of 34:45.
The event saw a record field for the newly designed Tamworth 10k route; nearly 500 enjoyed the warm early autumn sunshine and were entertained by the outside broadcast from TCRfm and the presence of GB international 400m hurdler Meghan Beesley. Meghan started the race and was on hand to present the trophies and medals.
First woman home was Rachel Langbein of Taunton Athletics Club with a time of 39:13 with Elizabeth Watters of Birchfield Harriers second in 44:08 and in third place Laura Roberts in 46:10.
