Take a tour of the Town Centre and learn something new!

Sunday, 3rd August 2014

Tamworth now has it’s very own group of Tour Guides who are there to take you on guided tours around Tamworth Town Centre and maybe even teach you something you did not know about the Town!

Tamworth Green Badge Tour Guides began their Saturday morning Guided Town Tours for the 2014 season back in April and will continue every Saturday until 27th September, with the only exception of 13th September.

You can learn the history of the Ancient Capital of Mercia, see our beautiful , hear about our  about local heroes, our benefactors and the architect of the modern day Police Force. Join Tamworth Guild of Town Guides on an amazing journey through Tamworth’s rich history.

Recently Juliet Davies who had attended one of the tours contacted Tamworth Informed.  This is what Juliet had to say:

“Historical tour of Tamworth this morning was absolutely brilliant – even though it was thumping down with rain.”

“Just fascinating – learned so much like the 3 lads who discovered information to break the enigma code machine (3 anchors statue), William McGregor’s Egyptology collection & buried mummies, a chimney sweep’s brush still poking out of a chimney, Thomas Guy being a miserable git!”

“Thoroughly recommend it. Brilliant tour guide! I really think you should recommend these tours!”

Juliet took lots of photos throughout her guided tour that she would like to share.  These can be seen below.
