THE Landau Forte Charitable Trust has this week confirmed plans to refurbish and reopen the swimming pool at Landau Forte Academy QEMS.
Students at QEMS, as well as Landau Forte Academy Amington and the Tamworth Sixth Form, will enjoy regular use of the pool, with a number of new extra-curricular clubs and skills development initiatives planned.
The Trust will also be dedicating a considerable amount of time for wider community access, so that local families and residents will also benefit from the facilities.
The refurbishment works will begin in the next few weeks and will be designed so as to minimise any disruption to students or local residents. The pool is expected to be ready for reopening by the start of the new term in September 2018.
James Robson, Executive Principal of QEMS, said of the news: “The swimming pool, which was closed in 2015, is one that staff and parents have been keen to see back in operation for some time. We are very pleased therefore to have secured the necessary funding to begin the work for its refurbishment.
“This is very welcome news for all at the Academy, but is also something that the local families, schools and community groups will be able to enjoy. We look forward to unveiling the new facilities ready for the start of the new academic year in September and are already planning a number of exciting initiatives across our Landau Forte schools in Tamworth.”
