Steelwork completes on 2 new £7m industrial and logistics buildings at Core 42 Tamworth

Monday, 6th July 2020

MIDLANDS based developer Hodgetts Estates has completed steelwork on two new warehouse and general industrial units at its 700,000 sq ft business park scheme Core 42 Tamworth, near Junction 10 M42 and adjacent to Birch Coppice.

The units, which are currently under construction are 31,300 sq ft and 14,250 sq ft and are due for completion in October 2020.

Features of the new development include large secure private yards, large power supplies, mains gas, EPC ‘A’ rating, 10%-15% roof lights, WCs, showers, cycle storage, siphonic drainage, Hormann Level Access Doors, and market-leading cladding to Chill Store specification.

The new units will provide a much-needed supply of high specification ‘mid-box’ smaller units into a market which has been dominated by larger ‘big-box’ warehouses more recently.

It is hoped the units should be of interest to local and national operators looking to upgrade or expand their current facilities. The chill store cladding specification also means that the units could be of interest to companies operating in the food retail sector.

Edward Hodgetts said, “We’re pleased with the speed of construction of the units especially given events of the last few months. The prime location demands a prime specification and we have enhanced a number of elements to include a non-touch operation to support infection control measures.

“We are undertaking viewings with potential occupiers currently and look forward to welcoming new businesses to the Core 42 scheme and adding to the 300 jobs created so far.”

To date, Hodgetts Estates have constructed and let over 260,000 sqft at the prime logistics location Core 42 Tamworth, creating over 300 new jobs. Local occupiers to the area include Aldi, Greencore, OCADO, Volkswagen, Sainsbury’s, TNT and UPS.
