Community Safety Partnership launches fun activities thanks to Space funding

TAMWORTH Community Safety Partnership has unveiled a host of FREE activities for young people to promote safety and crime prevention over the summer months, after it secured £14,000 funding from the Staffordshire Police & Crime Commissioner’s Space scheme.

Tamworth Community Safety Partnership includes Tamworth Borough Council, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Staffordshire County Council and will deliver the summer activity programme across the borough.

Space 2019 has been launched by Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire Matthew Ellis, aiming to reduce levels of ASB reported to the police, promote personal health and social development, team building and new experiences for young people in Staffordshire and to keep communities safer.

The activity programme – Space – is aimed at 8 to17 year-olds and will run from Monday, July 22 until Friday, August 30. This is in addition to the programme of activities being organised as part of Tamworth Borough Council’s annual Summer Playscheme.

The activities, which take place throughout Tamworth, include:

  • Boxing sessions for boys and girls at the Cornerpost Gym in Orchard Street (Booking required):
    • Mondays to Thursdays, 5.30pm-6.30pm, 10-13 year-olds
    • Mondays to Thursdays, 6.30pm-7.30pm, 14-17 year-olds
    • Mondays to Thursdays, 7.30pm-8.30pm, 18 years and over
  • Jump Xtreme, Wilnecote:
    • Thursdays and Fridays from July 25 to August 30 (6pm-7pm) 10-17 year-olds.
      LIMITED SPACES PRE BOOKING ESSENTIAL – No more than two people per booking. Maximum one session, per person, per week. *Must quote SPACE2019 when booking* A redemption code per person will be emailed which MUST be shown to confirm booking.  NO admission without confirmation.
  • Sporting Communities – fun multi-sports taking place at the following locations:
    • Stonydelph – Crowden Road: Mondays 12pm-3pm
    • Belgrave – Romney: Mondays 3pm-6pm
    • Glascote – Hawksworth: Wednesdays 12pm-3pm
    • Wilnecote – Orkney Drive: Wednesdays 3pm-6pm
    • Castle Grounds: Fridays 1pm-4pm
      No booking required.
