South Staffs Water offers free lagging to help prepare customers for winter

Friday, 8th November 2019

As winter temperatures are expected to drop to the lowest levels in a decade, South Staffs Water is recommending that customers take simple steps now to prevent burst water pipes and is offering free lagging to help everyone get winter-ready.

Many homes have external pipework, which can freeze in extreme cold weather and those pipes can burst when they start to thaw. A few simple steps can prevent this from happening.

Phil Newland, Managing Director at South Staffs Water, said:

“Burst pipes are not just inconvenient – having cold water leak all over your home is expensive and can ruin treasured items. So we’re advising customers to prepare for the cold weather now. It’s easy to do - our advice is to give your home a HUG – Heat your home; Understand your stop tap; Get lagging!

“Foam lagging can be purchased cheaply from DIY shops or online and simply snaps overexposed pipework or outside taps. To make it easier for customers, we’re offering free lagging and external tap covers.”
