Ready to be stars in the Champions League?

Tuesday, 16th October 2018

THE whole of Tamworth is behind the Balkan’s Stars as they head to Croatia in search of Socca Champions League glory.

The team, from Tamworth and who play in our Sunday league at The Lamb, will be the UK Representatives at the prestigious event after being selected by the International Socca Federation (ISF) from all the teams that Leisure Leagues put forward from our network.

Balkan’s Stars are in their second season in the competition, and have made quite an impression, as these stats from their team profile show.

Leisure Leagues’ Greg Allen, who looks after the Tamworth Leagues, spoke to the Balkan Stars’ skipper Razvan Miah before they flew out today and said: “they were very excited and looking forward the tournament. We all wish them well and hope they bring the cup back!”

Indeed, the dedicated team have one eye on league points too, with Greg adding: “they had initially given their seven days notice to cancel their game – but have since taken advantage of the guest players rule to make sure they don’t miss out!”

The Socca Champions League is the first event of its type and will see 24 teams from 15 countries across the world ready to battle it out in Croatia for the right to be crowned the best club side around.

You can follow how Balkan’s Stars – and the rest of the teams in the event – get on, by watching the matches live on the International Socca Federation website.

Matches get underway on Thursday 18th October.
