Could you give something back by being a Fire Service Volunteer?

March 8, 2018

STAFFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is looking for more volunteers in Lichfield and Burton-on-Trent to support the work it carries out in the community.

The Service has a wide range of roles for volunteers including tasks such as station visits, befriending, Safe and Well visits, road safety, events, training exercises, cadet instructors and so much more.

The commitment is a minimum of just eight hours a month and anyone is welcome to apply as the Service has roles to suit everyone.

Volunteer Co-ordinator Justine Burns said: “I have been working with volunteers for three years and I really love my job, it is so rewarding. In my role I co-ordinate the volunteers based on the needs of the Service, this may mean finding people to work at events or carry out regular visits to residents. There really is something for everyone.

“There are so many opportunities for our volunteers to help people in their local community and also the chance for them to learn new things, like first aid training and fire safety risks.

“The volunteers are very widely respected, appreciated and valued as an integral part of the Service and we welcome anyone who wants to join our team and do more in the community, meet new people and learn something new.”
