POLICE have stated that they have now made a second arrest in relation to a violent attack on a 13-year-old girl in Amington.
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested this afternoon, Wednesday, and will now be questioned by officers.
The report comes after news earlier today that a 15-year-old girl had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police are keen to inform local residents that the matter is being taken seriously. They have stepped up a visible presence in the area today.
Member of the public are being asked not to share the footage any further.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson has said:
“Officers are continuing to support the 13-year-old victim, who was treated in hospital for minor injuries and is now recovering at home. She is receiving appropriate support and her family are supportive of our investigation.
“We appreciate footage of the assault is in circulation and it is distressing. We would ask people not to share it any further on social media.
“Officers investigating the incident have seen the footage and it does form part of our investigation.
“We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our communities that such incidents in Tamworth, and Staffordshire as a whole, are rare.
“An increased, visible police presence has been implemented in the Tamworth area to provide reassurance to the local community.”
