Tamworth Round Table celebrated their 60th anniversary in style on Saturday night as they held a special ‘Birthday Party’ at the Marston Farm Hotel near Tamworth.
The social and community club for young men decided to break from tradition and have party blowers, party poppers, party games, such as pass-the-parcel, free-to-play casino and a disco.
Vice Chairman of Tamworth Round Table, Paul Bryant, who was one of the organisers of the event told Tamworth Informed;
“Traditionally, an anniversary would be marked with a dinner attended by previous members getting together sharing stories from the past and giving various speeches.
“That didn’t really appeal to our membership which is made up of guys in their 20s and 30s, we wanted to have a party to celebrate this fantastic milestone; a birthday party theme seemed the perfect way to do it.”
Over hundred people from around Tamworth and the rest of the country descended upon Marston Farm to join in the celebrations.
“We had tremendous support from local Tamworth businesses as per usual.” Paul added, “We were able to give away prizes donated by many companies such as Drayton Manor, the Harvester restaurant, Monsoon Indian Restaurant as well as national companies such as Ikea and Virgin Active. We even had a local baker ‘Ruth’s Cake House’ make us a special Round Table birthday cake.”
Speaking of the year ahead Paul said; “There’s a real excitement heading into this new year as we aim to carry on evolving our club to meet the needs of the men of today in order to keep it going for the next 60 years.
“We’ve got an exciting programme of activities planned for the guys and we implore Tamworth men in their 20s and 30s to have a look at our group, come and join us on a few events and see what great fun you could be having.”
