RADIO Tamworth has been shortlisted in the national Community Radio Awards.
The station has made the annual shortlist, which was whittled down from more than 360 entries from 77 community radio stations from every corner of the UK.
It was Managing Editor Alex Farrell who picked up a nomination in the Volunteer of the Year category for his work launching the station in December 2017.
Alex said: “We are delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK.
“I may have been the one nominated, but there is no way I could have done it without the help and support of our team of dedicated volunteers.
“This nomination is for everybody who has worked tirelessly to make Radio Tamworth the success it is today, just nine months after launching on 106.8 fm in Tamworth.
“We now have around 40 volunteers and produce over 100 hours of original programming every week from right here in Tamworth.”
Martin Steers, awards chair, said: “Now in their third year, the entries are getting better and better, and we’re really able to show off the diverse broadcasting that the countries stations undertake for the benefit of their communities.”
“We wish Alex Farrell and Radio Tamworth good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony in Sheffield in September.”
