PUB landlords and licensees are being encouraged to roll out the barrel and transform their pubs into floral delights for this year’s Tamworth in Bloom campaign.

Tamworth is bidding to win gold in the Heart of England in Bloom campaign for the sixth year running.

This year, competition organisers have teamed up with the Women’s Institute (WI) to continue the commemoration of the First World War and the mark the centenary of the WI. The theme of this year’s Tamworth in Bloom campaign is Keep the Home Fires Burning.

And in a bid to encourage green-fingered Tamworth residents and businesses to do their bit, the council has once again launched its competition to find the best floral pub.

Every pub in Tamworth is being offered the opportunity to compete for the top prize in the competition, with £100 worth of gardening vouchers up for grabs for the winning entry.

Landlords and licensees are being invited to interpret the Keep the Home Fires Burning theme however they wish. Entries can be big or small, elaborate or simple, and can be made up of hanging baskets, planters or flower beds.

Anyone who would like to take part in the competition or who would like more information is asked to contact Environmental Management on 01827 709445 or email [email protected]

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday July 31 and competing pubs will be judged during the following week. The winner will receive £100 worth of gardening vouchers.
