Police hunt car-key burglar responsible for Tamworth crimes

DETECTIVES in Staffordshire are appealing for help in finding a man wanted for questioning about two ‘car key’ burglaries in the Tamworth area last year and has now been re-called to Prison.

A £1000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Edwin Gilbert. He is now being recalled to prison to complete his sentence and is still wanted by detectives for questioning about crimes in Staffordshire.

He is described as a white male, around 5ft 8 tall, medium to slim build with dark greasy hair. Officers from Staffordshire have been conducting visits to numerous addresses of associates of Gilbert including addresses in the Walsall, Erdington, Edgbaston, Northfield and Shard End areas.

We know that Edwin knows we are looking for him, and we believe people are helping him evade the police. we are warning those people that they are committing criminal offences and are likely to face their very own court appearances when we capture him.

Anyone with any information should call their local police on 101 or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Information will be treated in confidence and a reward is available for information that directly leads to the arrest of Gilbert.

 

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We know that Edwin knows we are looking for him, and we believe people are helping him evade the police. we are warning those people that they are committing criminal offences and are likely to face their very own court appearances when we capture him.

“We are determined to locate and arrest him and we urge the public to help us and reporting any sightings via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. A reward may also be available via Crimestoppers for information which leads to his arrest.”
