Police confirmed man as died after falling from flats

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a man has sadly died this morning after falling from the roof of the high rise flats on Lichfield Street in the Town Centre.

In a statement from the Police the force has said:

“Officers were called to the incident at around 8.30am today after receiving a report that a man had fallen from the roof of the 16-storey Peel Tower block of flats in Balfour Road, off Lichfield Street.

“The man, believed to be aged in his late 40s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.

“The man has yet to be formally identified.

“His family are being support by specially trained officers.

“The flats have been sealed off while police carry out enquiries at the scene to understand the exact circumstances of what has happened.

“Local neighbourhood officers are also carrying out high visibility patrols to reassure local residents.”
