Pub landlords and licensees are being urged to do their bit for this year’s Tamworth In Bloom campaign by entering our pubs competition.
Tamworth is bidding to win gold in the Heart of England In Bloom campaign for the fifth year running, as well as representing the region in the national Britain In Bloom competition.
This year’s campaign theme is Lest We Forget, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and to honour the memory of all those who served in the conflict.
And in a bid to encourage green-fingered Tamworth residents and businesses to do their bit, the council is once again running its competition to find the best floral pub.
Every pub in Tamworth is being offered the opportunity to compete for the top prize in the competition, with £100 worth of gardening vouchers up for grabs for the winning entry.
Landlords and licensees are being invited to interpret the Lest We Forget theme however they wish. Entries can be big or small, elaborate or simple, and can be made up of hanging baskets, planters or flower beds.
The winner of last year’s pub competition was the Moat House in Lichfield Street, which took the top prize for the huge amount of work which had gone into creating its fabulous floral displays. They include hanging baskets, beds in the front and back gardens, a floral archway and ‘Moat House’ spelt out in marigolds in the back garden.
Anyone who would like to take part in the competition or who would like more information is asked to contact Environmental Management on 01827 709445 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
The closing date for entries is Friday August 1 and competing pubs will be judged during the following week.
