Planning permission sought for brand new Primary Academy in Tamworth

September 13, 2018

A PLANNING application has been submitted to Tamworth Borough Council for a new Primary Acadamy to be built within the Borough.

If successful, this will be the first time a brand new School or Academy, which does not simply replace an older building, has been built within the Town for a number of years.

The plans, which were submitted on behalf of the County Council are for a two-story building, with almost 1,700 square foot floor space in total, 26 car parking spaces, playing fields and a hard-standing for outdoor PE, which will also be used for out-of-hours parking.

The Academy is to be situated within the Anker Valley housing development off Ashby Road.

It is proposed that the Academy will employ the equivalent of 25 full-time staff and will teach years 1-6, as well as a reception class and a nursery.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the planning application has until 27 September and can do so here.
