Overturned articulated lorry causes A5 chaos

A LORRY which overturned on the A5 this morning has caused traffic misery for morning commuters – and it is expected to last a number of hours.

Police Officers from North Warwickshire Response team, supported by the Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) rushed to the scene at Mancetter Island in Atherstone.

Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and there were no other vehicles involved.

The incident is affecting those travelling Westbound, which is towards Tamworth.

It is expected that recovery of the vehicle may take a number of hours and the road will be closed for this time. Motorists are asked to take alternative routes.

Highways England has stated that normal traffic conditions are expected between 16:15 and 16:30 on 8 January 2019.
