The UK’s top touring open-air theatre company is coming to Tamworth this summer, when audiences will be invited to experience a fresh take on the classic tale of Robin Hood in the Castle Grounds.
Illyria will be transforming the Castle Grounds into Sherwood Forest on Saturday July 12 with its exciting adaptation of the traditional legend of Robin Hood – which even includes an archery competition involving the entire audience!
The company has performed throughout the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Canada, as well as winning four international ‘Best Performance’ awards for its fresh approach to Shakespeare, the quality of its shows for families and the originality of its adaptations of classic tales.
Now, Tamworth audiences are being invited to experience the magic of Illyria for themselves, when the Castle Grounds plays host to Robin Hood and his merry men (and women) on Saturday July 12.
The adaptation is written in fast-moving, easy-to-follow verse, and introduces all the well-loved characters including Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck and, of course, the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham.
Robin Hood is a show for all the family. It was first performed in 2007 and remains one of Illyria’s most popular productions.
Audiences are invited to bring their own seating, warm clothes and a picnic. Gates open at 6pm and the performance starts at 6.30.
Tickets are priced at £10 and £8 for concessions. They are available online at www.tamworthassemblyrooms.co.uk, in person from Tamworth Information Centre in Corporation Street or by calling the Box Office on 01827 709618.
