Would you like to be part of Tamworths best-kept event secret?

Thursday, 22nd March 2018

TAMWORTH urban arts and sports festival is amongst the top three events of its kind in the UK and is the biggest engaging youth culture event in Staffordshire.

To ensure the 2018 event goes ahead as planned on June 2nd, they are looking for support from local businesses and organisations.

If any local companies would like to donate and support this event, they can do so by clicking this link here.

If any local companies would like to have a more visible presence by way of sponsorship or even be involved on the day and have a visable presence by way of an activation, New Urban Era (NUE) would love to hear from you, you can drop them a message on their Facebook Fanpage by clicking here https://www.facebook.com/NewurbanERA/

NUE was founded by Vic Brown in 2011 to host a small gathering of local artists & DJ’s at Tamworths legal graffiti site. Even though the event was small it received a lot of interest on social media due to the very high standard of artists both creatively and musically.

This initiated a stream of enquiries to Vic from like-minded creatives from all over the UK.

2013 was a notable year in the festival’s development with NUE adding urban sports to the event by programming a Skate Jam in the local skate-park. Due to the success of the previous years events even more artists & dance performances were added.

Between 2014 and 2017 the Festival has continued to grow as the biggest youth culture event of its kind in the area and in the top 3 urban arts events in the UK. Continually adding more artist space, more programmed content including pop-up BMX track.

NUE partnership with Community Together CIC was formed in 2015 which has enabled the event to involve far more local groups and enable us to recruit volunteers. Their involvement has ensured a steady growth of the event over this period with invaluable support.
Something Tamworth should be very proud of and shouting loud about!

NUE is planning a significantly better quality event for 2018 with selective Artists attending from across the UK. Artist spaces will again increase to over 80.

In addition, NUE will be adding workshops & improved entertainment for those attending the event. Content will include break dancing, screen printing & art workshops.

The vision for the future of NUE Festival is to grow year on year with the help of both the public and the private sector.

The continuation of growth will be fuelled with the quality of artists and performers until the event can be self-sufficient as a ticketed event.

Areas of development identified include a continuation of inspirational arts programming, ongoing partnership development, local arts sector support, schools development programming, linked programming and defined branding.

Images from previous years

Following very positive meetings with Arts Council England we believe that we can secure their support to create a legacy for years to come building on the successful collaboration work that has happened so far including local partnerships, networking for artists and putting Tamworth on the map for innovative arts programming!

Creating and delivering this event has been a labour of love for 7yrs. To consistently deliver a credible youth culture festival with approx. 4,000 people visiting throughout the day certainly has been a challenge for Vic.

The biggest challenge annually is financial and the uncertainty of being able to deliver year after year, the lack of funding & sponsorship means NUE relies upon artists and local groups.

A huge challenge we face is to increase the awareness and understanding of the event to our target audience/demographic and the wider community as a whole in both the immediate area and the wider UK both at the festival and annually. The quality of the event is seen nationally will no doubt attract tourism to Tamworth.

Enabling businesses and brands sponsors and funders the opportunity to assist a successful high profile community event to take place and to engage with an audience that may match your business with youth culture synergy.

Helping to ensure the legacy continues and grows!
