Plans for a giant Next store at Ventura Park

Next home and Garden

TAMWORTH Informed has learned of plans for a giant Next and Next at Home store at Ventura Retail Park with almost 7000 sq. metres of retail space.

The plans will see a combined footprint for the Next and Next at Home brands and incorporate a mezzanine floor featuring a café as part of the company’s new Next Home and Garden format.

The plans, submitted by J.B. Aucott show that the store is to be at the current location of Homebase at Unit 1, next to the new exit on to River Drive.

To facilitate the new store and increased floor space the plans are to extend the retail space in to what is currently the garden area of Homebase and the introduction of a mezzanine floor.

In total the floors pace will increase by 90 sq. metres at ground level and 1329 sq. metres as a mezzanine floor. This is compared to the existing Homebase store.

Seven car parking spaces will also be lost as part of the plans.

What do you think of the plans for the new store? Let us know.

  1. This is a huge mistake! Shoppers love to wander from clothes shop to clothes shop, not trek to the other part of the retail park. Moving away from the other fashion retailers destroys the comparison shopping with the others apart from Matalan.

  2. Larger than life shops, and how is the car park facilities going to cope?
How are we going to structure and strategically plan the road network?
It’s good news for the town, I do however wonder what the future is, and how the strategy for expansion is taking place.
The retail park grows in size, but the facilities around it don’t. Hmm…….

  3. Primark is one of the most popular stores. Most people can’t afford to shop at next and having bought stuff from there it washes and irons crap and yes I can say that I run a busy business ironing. Most of our younger people and those on a budget love Primark so let’s fight for one.
