New website to help promote town-wide music scene

TAMWORTH’S music scene is being given a major boost in the form of a brand new website dedicated solely to the promotion of live music of all genres at venues across the area.

Any band, singer, pub, club or organisation can advertise their event, free of charge, on the site, where people can search what’s on by date, genre or venue.

The website has been launched by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts and Events team as part of the I Am Music element of the 12-month I Am Tamworth project, funded by Arts Council England and designed to encourage more people to get involved in and support the arts.

Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, Cllr Rob Pritchard, said: “We realised during our research that there is a great amount of live entertainment on offer in the town; it just needs to be promoted on a wider scale.

“As our aim is to help deliver arts and events to the people of Tamworth, we felt it only right that we should help the community in delivering and promoting its own events, alongside the entertainment we provide at council-run venues.

“We hope will help get more people out into the area’s pubs and clubs, to watch and support all genres of music being offered by local talent, whether it’s rock, jazz, blues, folk, bands, singers, choirs or anything else in between.

“The idea is that anyone looking for a fun night of live entertainment should be able to visit this website and discover a range of music events taking place at a variety of venues. There should be something to suit all tastes.”

A number of pubs, clubs and organisations have already taken advantage of the free advertising, including Corey’s bar, The Three Tuns in Fazeley, Wherever bar, Tamworth Jazz Club and Tamworth Folk Club.

Landlord of The Three Tuns in Fazeley, Martin Young, said: “I think Tamworth’s music scene has been crying out for one central website that people can visit to find out what’s going on at venues across the area.

“Live music is a key part of the offering at The Three Tuns and I welcome the opportunity to advertise this on a wider scale.”
