New family fun day already creating a buzz at the valley

July 29, 2015

A MASSIVE charity fun day packed with activities and entertainment for the whole family is taking place at Drayton Bassett’s Buzzards Valley Vineyard this summer.

The first ever Family Fest on Sunday, August 9th, boasts an impressive and jam-packed agenda including live music from six local bands, children’s disco, adults-only ‘crèche’, bouncy castles, water slide, climbing wall, retired air ambulance helicopter, BBQ, huge picnic area, pets corner, cheese and wine tasting, The English Indian street food, craft stalls, local interest groups, face painting and much more.

The event is being organised by members of The Breakfast Club business networking group who meet at Buzzards Valley Vineyard on the first Wednesday of every month. But what started out as a modest family picnic soon snowballed into a major charity fundraising event in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance, Job Club and Our Place Community Hub.

And with tickets selling fast, Family Fest 2015 is already set to become a major highlight in the area’s summer events calendar. Plans are even underway to extend it to a two-day festival with overnight camping next year.

Anthony Levelle of Sutton-based Search UK Ltd recruitment company and Katie Hale of AP Designs are helping to turn the plans into reality.

Anthony, a keen fundraiser from Tamworth, said: “As regular members of a networking group, we all know each other very well, but most of our families haven’t met, so we talked about having a summer picnic. Then we decided to get a DJ and a bouncy castle and all of a sudden we were organising this major event for charity.

“We decided to sell tickets – priced at £5 for adults, with children getting in free of charge – to help raise money and awareness for some worthy local charities which do great work in the area and need our support.

“The aim is for it to be a bit like an old-fashioned fete, with stalls, food and live music. There will also be a children’s disco and separate adults-only area with a bar. It should be a great community get together with lots of fun for all the family, while raising money for charity.”
