Wednesday, 3rd October 2018

A MINIBUS exploded into a ball of flames this afternoon (Wednesday) and set fire to a neighbouring HGV at the Moto Service Station

The incident occurred at the Motorway Service Station that sits at Junction of J10 of the M42 and the A5 at the edge of the Borough at around 1.30pm.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and the vehicles are believed to have been empty at the time.

The Services remained open during the incident but there was a cordon in place for the safety of members of the public.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 1.21pm today (Wednesday 3 October) to a report of a minibus and large goods vehicle on fire at Tamworth services just off junction 10 of the M42.

“Three appliances attended and the fire was successfully and quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.”

According to a reader, the area was still being cleaned up at 8.00pm.
