THE Mayor of Tamworth’s charity has received a welcome pre-Christmas boost, thanks to a £200 donation from the Marmion Lodge of Freemasons.
Mayor of Tamworth, Cllr Ken Norchi and Mayoress Jean Norchi were invited to the Lodge in Lichfield Street, where a cheque for £200 was presented by Almoner of the Lodge, Iain Semple, and Junior Warden Philip Hope.
Cllr Norchi has chosen to raise money during his year in office for Spoken, a Tamworth-based support group which helps the parents and carers of children with special needs, including autism and ADHD.
He has held a number of highly-successful fundraising events, including two discos, a skittles night and a curry night. He is hoping to raise around £5,000 for his charity during his year in office.
Cllr Norchi said: “I am very grateful to the members of the Marmion Lodge of Freemasons for their generous donation and would like to thank them very much for inviting us to the Lodge as their guests.”
Marmion Lodge is the oldest Freemasons Lodge in Tamworth and has recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.
