POLICE have arrested a man following a vehicle pursuit with a stolen car around Tamworth yesterday afternoon.
The driver, a 26-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested shortly after 3.30 pm yesterday, Wednesday 6 June, in the stolen car in what police have described as an ‘intelligence-led operation’.
The occupant of the car was found to be in possession of Class A Drugs and the car, which was a Grey Mercedes A180D Sport, was displaying false registration plates.
The pursuit came to an end after the vehicle collided with other vehicles and a lamp-post.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police has said: “A Grey Mercedes A180D Sport failed to stop for officers before colliding with other vehicles and a lamppost.
“The driver was arrested at around 3.35pm on Buxton Avenue, Fazeley. The National Police Air Service also assisted with the pursuit.
“A 26-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.
The vehicle was found to be on false plates and was stolen from the Walsall area on 24 May.”
