Man arrested after threatening officers with a weapon

RESIDENTS in Colbourne Road, Fazeley awoke this morning to find their road sealed off by Police.

Shortly after midnight today, Monday 25 May, Police Officers from Tamworth and Lichfield as well as Armed Response Units from Stafford were sent to Colbourne Road, sealing off the street.

A unknown male was arrested at an address on the road  after allegedly threatening police officers with a weapon.

A local residents told Tamworth Informed early this morning:

“There is some kind of Police operation in Colbourne Road, Fazeley, the road is taped off and [there are] some officers in riot gear”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:

“We were called to an incident where a local man had challenged officers with a weapon. It was not a firearm but, due to the level of threat, armed officers were called to the scene.

“After a number of hours, the man left the address and was then detained at the scene. No one was injured as a result and the man detained is helping police with their inquiries

“We thank the local community for their patience.”
