M42 Closed due to serious collision

THE M42 motorway is closed close to Tamworth this morning, due to a serious collision.

The section of the road is closed northbound between J10 (A5, Tamworth) and J11 (A444, Appleby Magna) due to a serious collision which occurred shortly before 6.30am.

Warwickshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Services and Highways England Traffic Officers are on scene. The road is likely to be closed for several hours and may impact on the morning peak travel period.

In addition lane 2 is closed on the southbound carriageway to allow incident screens to be erected to for Police to carry out scene investigation work, this is causing Long delays between J13 of the A42 and J10 of the M42.

Road users may wish to use the A38 at J28 of the M1 if heading South.

Traffic is being diverted and should follow the hollow triangle symbol. Exit at J10 and take A5 eastbound. At the junction with the A444 turn left and head north to M42 J11.

At this time.   Highways England are estimating the road to reopen at around 10.30am.
