PIDGE, the Victoria crowned pigeon didn’t go ‘cheep’ this year as he treated his bird, Victoria, to a delicious tea for two! The loved up pair were seen enjoying the romantic moment together, tucking into their favourite juicy delicacy of mealworms.
The sky’s the limit this year as the West Midlands zoo imitated the popular Butterfly Forest café for the royal pair as they dined at the best table in the house with great views!
Well known by the zoo keepers, Pidge is quite the cheeky chap at 9 years old and has been nesting at the zoo since 2014. Victoria will turn 1 in March and has been living with Pidge since September last year. Keepers say she was shy when she arrived at her new home, but Pidge quickly took her under his wing and showed her the best places to hang out.
Far from the standard homing pigeon, the Victoria crowned pigeons are the largest of their breed and clearly know how to ruffle a few feathers with their striking royal blue features and high levels of intelligence.
