Literary Festival Week 2018

TAMWORTH LifFest has pulled together an amazing collection of events for their week-long Literary Festival at the beginning of March.

In Total, 7 days of events are planned at various locations around the Borough and everyone is welcome to attend.

Check out the list of events below; some of them are free and for some, there is a small charge.

March 2rd 7:30pm – St Editha’s Church

Martin Carver, Professor Emeritus, Department of Archaeology, University of York and former Timeteam regular draws the curtain on a year marking 1,100 years since the death of AEthelflaed – Tickets £7.50

March 3rd 10am to 4pm, Town Hall, Market Street – Launch of Festival Week

Come along to meet, greet, enjoy the music, the authors, the coffee, tea, cake, biscuits – FREE drop-in event.

March 5th, 7.30pm, Bolehall Manor, Tamworth,

Poetry Night – open mic session, introduced by Staffordshire’s Original Poet Laureate, Mal Dewhirst. Anyone welcome to present their work, but booking your spot is advised if you wish to read. FREE (bucket collection on exit)

March 6th, 7.30pm, Market Vaults, Tamworth

Story Night – writers and readers unite to amuse and entertain, all welcome but be sure to book your spot if you want to read. FREE (bucket collection on exit)

March 7th, 7.30pm, St Editha’s Church,

Romance/Women’s Fiction Panel, St George’s Chapel, chaired by editor Sue Miller and featuring Philippa Ashley, Erin Green, Rachel Crowther, Dawn Bolton and Christie Barlow. Tickets £6

March 8th, 7.30pm, Globe Inn, Tamworth Author Crime Panel, chaired by former policeman Gary Hyde, featuring authors Rob Sinclair, Darren Young, A. A. Abbott and presenter/filmmaker Jayne Harris. Tickets £6

March 9th, 7.30pm, Wilnecote Parish Hall,

Comedy night with Rob Barratt,

Dudley-born comic poet, humorist and singer. Tickets £10 to include fish and chip supper or vegetarian alternative. Without meal price of £7.

March 10th, 10am to 4pm, Central Library, Tamworth

A selection of authors, editors and illustrators from across all genres. Press release to follow in a few days.
