Last chance to register to vote in May 5 elections

April 12, 2016

TAMWORTH residents are being reminded that they now only have a few days left to register to vote in the Local and Police & Crime Commissioner elections on May 5.

Only those people whose names are on the electoral register will be able to vote in the elections – and the deadline for registration is Monday April 18.

It only takes five minutes to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You will need your National Insurance number in order to register.

Anyone who is already registered to vote but who will be away on May 5 can apply for a postal vote up to Tuesday April 19. Anyone who misses this deadline may be able to apply to vote by proxy. The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is Tuesday April 26.

Applications for postal and proxy votes can be made on Tamworth Borough Council’s website at www.tamworth.gov.uk. More information is available from the Elections Office on 01827 709262 or 709264.
