THERE are now just a few days left for green-fingered Tamworth residents to enter this year’s Tamworth in Bloom garden competition – where £100 worth of gardening vouchers is up for grabs for the winning entry.
Entries to the competition must be submitted by 5pm this Friday (July 31).
Whether you’ve got a huge garden with a rolling lawn and endless flower beds or just a small square of grass, a hanging basket or a window box, we’d love you to enter your pride and joy into the competition, which is open to anyone living in the borough.
Cllr Michelle Thurgood, Cabinet member for Housing & Waste Management, said: “We would like to see as many of Tamworth’s beautiful gardens as possible being entered into our Tamworth in Bloom garden competition.
“It doesn’t matter if gardens are big or small; we are just looking for people who take real pride in them. The most important part of Tamworth in Bloom isn’t the flowers, it’s the people of Tamworth and their involvement and we want gardeners throughout the borough to enter their plots to show us how proud they are.
“We could not have won gold for the past five years and then last year taken a silver gilt award in the national Britain in Bloom campaign without the hard work and support of the Tamworth community, who put so much time and effort into making the areas where they live and work look superb.”
To enter this year’s garden competition, just take a picture of your garden and either email it to Garden Competition on firstname.lastname@example.org or drop a copy in to reception at Marmion House.
The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday July 31, with shortlisted entries likely to be judged during the following two weeks. The winner will receive £100 worth of gardening vouchers.
Last year’s winners were Bob and Karen Buckler, who took the top prize for their amazing multi-level garden at their home in Stationfields.
