April 12, 2018

ONE of the true legends of the music scene in the 70’s through to the 90’s flew into the UK last week, whilst en route to Japan to promote the Together 4 Tamworth Carnival on 2nd of June.

Johnny Slade worked with BBC Radio1 on their Roadshows where he was joined by famous DJ’s such as DLT, Noel Edmunds and Chris Tarrant.

Now in his 70’s, Johnny once lived in at Argyle Street, Glascote with his wife and two children and began to DJ in the early 70’s.

He has played at hundreds of gigs in the Tamworth area and built all his own sound and lighting equipment as he worked as an electricaion at Tamworth Hospitals.

Noel Edmunds famously gave Johnny Slade a mention on his Sunday morning Radio 1 show, calling the Glascote man “disk jockey and equipment builder extraordinaire.”
