Investigation launched after Fatal A5 collision

A MAN has sadly died following a collision between two motorbikes in Tamworth this afternoon.

Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the incident on the A5 in Tamworth, near to Ventura Retail Park, just before 3.12pm today, Friday 20 November

Sadly one of the riders, a 37-year-old man suffered fatal injuries. The family of the man are now being contacted by the police and will be supported by specially trained officers.

An ambulance; a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews were alerted to a collision involving two motorbikes in Tamworth.

“A man was found to be in cardiac arrest. He was given advanced life support treatment by medics. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts the man was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second motorcyclist, also a man, was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Regional Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident number 459 of todays date.
